System Upgrades
Service Manual
Ensure you reference your service manual before carrying out upgrades:
The most recommended upgrade for this system is a Solid State Drive, here is my affiliate link to Crucial here. If purchasing a SSD or Memory Upgrade please use these links as I will get a tiny bit of commission which will help fund my guides.
SSD Drive Upgrade
Memory Upgrade:
This system supports 8 GB of RAM (2×4 GB Modules) however 8 GB of DDR2 RAM is more expensive than it is worth and the 32 Bit OS maxes out at 4 GB RAM. This can also be purchased using the affiliate link above.
Media Direct
Media Direct should be installed before the Operating System in order for the Media Direct Button to function correctly.
Operating System
It is recommended to install Windows 10 on this system see Windows OEM FAQs and Downloads. The Windows Vista OEM or Windows XP Product Key won't be compatible with Windows 10 Installation Media however you can run Windows 10 Unlicensed. Windows 10 will have most of the system drivers required inbuilt however you can install the Windows 7 Drivers if you have any unknown Devices in the Device Manager.
Drivers and Downloads for Windows 7
Legacy BIOS
System Utilities (Windows 7 Only)
Chipset (Windows 7)
Serial ATA
Card Reader
Video (Windows 7 Only)
Communications (Windows 7 Only)
Not all systems have a modem. If the Driver fails to install, there is no need to try and install the rest in this category.
I have a problem with the Chipset O2 Micro sd host controller : The card is not detected, however windows make a sound when I retire the card.
Is this Windows 7 or Windows 8.1? Does anything appear in Disc Management?
It is Windows 7 64bits. No, nothing appears in disc management.
Do you have any errors in the device manager? Can you see the card reader?

Do you see any drive if you open up folder options and uncheck "Hide Empty Drives"?
You can try to disable the card reader in the system BIOS, load Windows and then shut down and re-enable it to see if it comes up as new hardware when you power the machine back on.
No I have no errors in the device manager, There are the 2 memory card drivers ("O2Micro Integrated MMC SD controller" and "O2Micro Integrated MS/MSPRO/xD controller"). And I observed a detail : I have a SD card wich is not recognized, I have an micro SD USB adapter, and I have a micro SD SD adapter with a micro SD card wich is not recognized EXCEPT if the micro SD card have already been recognized by computer with the micro SD USB adapter, wich works, it.
Then, by checking off "Hide empty drives" there is no changes.
I will try to disable card reader in the bios.
Make a new post on the laptop general hardware forum to see if anyone else has any suggestions:

Driver wise it seems okay, it may be faulty hardware.
Try just an SD card and see if its recognised.
Yes I have already done that. The SD card is not recognised.
What do I do now ?
There are no changes after your BIOS technic supposition. I have another question again : How can I read a Memory Stick Pro with the card reader ? I thought I can because it is written in front of the card reader but I can not see how to do ?
And another thing : My computer do the “deconnected device sound” when I remove the card from the slot, so it knows there is something..

I had the same problem. I ruled out faulty hardware because it did work on Linux.
I found some O2Micro drivers from Lenovo that work:

Same problem here, but it was working with Linux.
The lenovo driver helped me.

Thanks for that. I'll update some of these pages. 🙂
