Malwarebytes' AntiMalware

Download Link

Instructions

It is of course recommended to download Malwarebyte's AntiMalware on a non-compromised system and save to a USB stick and then install it on the problem system. However if you must download it on a comprimised system you should start your browser in inprivate browsing to override dodgy toolbars, home page and dodgy search providers which may redirect your searches. Inprivate browsing will give you a blank home page and disable any toolbars/extensions. It will not change the search providers however the search provider for a specific search can be changed in the address bar. To bring up inprivate Internet Explorer:

Press [Windows] and [r] to bring up the run command and type: "%ProgramFiles%\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -private

Capture1

Inprivate Internet Explorer will open.

Ensure that you select the drop down arrow to the top right and select Bing as its a trusted search provider and won't redirect your searches to malicious websites.

Search for Malwarebyte's AntiMalware FileHippo or MalwareBytes' CNET.

Unfortunately websites like CNET have many adverts with download links which serve to confuse users into downloading stuff they don't want. Select the Download Now (under the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware heading).

Hint if you hover your mouse over the Free Downloads the link address should display on the bottom left. The link should mention google ads and be avoided. The actual installer should be linked to CNET and have a link like: http://dw.cbsi.com/…..

Select save and ignore everything else on the page

Before running a scan change some of the settings. Go to scan and scanner settings. Change PUM, PUM and P2P to "show in results list and check for removal". Otherwise you will have to manually check every checkbox after the scan.

65 Now go to the scanner tab and select full scan. (I recommend full scan for first time use or if you think your computer is compromised).

scan If Malwarebytes' AntiMalware finds anything it will list the objects detected. Select ok
