Dimension 3100/E310 – Windows 7 64 Bit

This system is a 2005 system and with some push can run Windows 7 64 Bit. It is not Windows 10 64 Bit Capable due to elevated Processor Requirements. It is not advised to spend any money upgrading this system, as it is cheaper to purchase a more capable Second Hand Business Desktop

  1. Someone gave me a old Dell Dimension 3100/E310. Pentium 4 3GIG Processor, 2 Gigs of RAM.It came with Windows XP. I upgraded the Graphics Card to 512mb. I put Windows 7 Professional 64bit on it and it runs fast! No problems.

    1. I wasn't aware the board is 64-bit architecture capable. Thanks for reporting this. I have some issues with this board (one of my customers' PC) Dell 3100. I installed a Windows 7 Ultimate -32 bit for him. However – during installation of security updates after SP1 (just before they are installed and PC shuts down) – VGA output suddenly cuts out and monitor becomes black. My customer panics and shuts down by holding the power button. Have you encountered anything like this? Also another question – no driver issues when you installed graphics card? How about with other utilities? I assumed you used a PCI slot for video card – as there are no others. Is it Windows AERO capable? Thanks in advance for any help…
