Old Guide
UEFI BIOS Settings which need to be altered for Windows Installation
- SATA Operation – UEFI and MBR BIOS
The SATA operation should be modified to suit your SSD/HDD configurations, such as SSD cache drive or SSD boot drive or just a conventional HDD.
- UEFI/Secure Boot – UEFI BIOS Only
SecureBoot/UEFI are newer security technologies which make the legacy MBR obsolete.
Sometimes users will want to install 32 Bit versions of Windows and may need to disable these settings. These settings must be enabled for installation on a 3 TB drive or superior.
- USB Debug – Disable USB 3.0 Functionality – UEFI BIOS Only
This setting disables USB 3.0 functionality making USB ports exhibit USB 2.0 functionality. This setting is useful as Windows 7 and earlier versions of Windows do not include native driver support for USB 3.0 and installation using the use of USB 3.0 ports can hence be stalled. USB Debug should be disabled after successful Windows 7 installation and driver installation.
Other UEFI BIOS Settings
- Function Keys – UEFI and MBR BIOS
Toggles the default between function keys and multimedia keys depending on your preference.
- Onboard LAN Controller – UEFI and MBR BIOS
Disabling the onboard LAN controller, loading Windows and then re-enabling it and loading Windows often fixes LAN problems. If the LAN still does not show in Device Manager after this procedure than the NIC has failed.

How did you install Windows 10 and how did you make Windows 10 Installation Media. Please post on the Dell Community Forums – Microsoft OS Forum as its hard to address complicated questions which should be forum threads in these comments.

Provide more details like your version of Windows and what you were doing? i.e. were you attempting to install Windows on a new SSD from installation media?
