I am proud to say my website the DellWindowsReinstallationGuide Unofficial Windows Reinstallation Guides for Dell Computers (although most guides work on other OEM systems) has now reached 5,000,000 views and 2,500,000 visitors.
My guides are now updated for Windows 10 including the documentation of the 2 month free upgrade path for Windows XP/Vista users.
The Free Upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 10:

This upgrade path is valid for 2 months and is via Windows 10 Insider Build 10130 which expires on the 02/10/2015.
Windows Insiders should also take this path who have lost their base OS. Unfortunately users need to find 10130 .isos from unofficial locations, any recommendations?

Hi philipyip, I discover your site today, great site and I have found incredible information, but I have been in a situation which still can't figure it out how to solve, I hope you can help me, I have been trying to resolve this issue for a month now, I hope I don't miss a thing. The situation is this one: I lend my laptop Lenovo G485 to someone with a Windows 8.0 BIOS OEM Key according to software "produkey", this person give me back the laptop with Windows 8 Enterprise, an obsolete version which now has the logo Activate Windows at the lower right corner and moreover Windows is crashing a lot and several other issues are starting to pop out so I try to do a Refresh and that's when all the problems begin, the Enterprise edition seems like a trap, it doesn't automatically detect the embedded BIOS OEM Key to do the refresh at System Recovery Options, so I try from Media Creation Tool downloading the Windows 8.1 ISO but it asked me for a Product Key, which no one works, the Enterprise or the OEM Key, then I try to "downgrade" the Enterprise Edition to Pro since regedit.exe (Product Name and EditionID) and run System Recovery Options again, it didn't work (probably for the changes to the Registry) then I try again the Media Creation Tool option but the product key continues to be a problem in every corner, even from the Command Prompt to change it so I'm finally trying the ei.cfg option. What should i write in the Notepad to make this work? Or what else can I do to get back my original OS system? I would really, really appreciate your help, thanks in advance.
See here, ensure you have the correct edition, also make sure RWEverything displays up a MSDM tab: http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/download-microsoft-windows-and-office/download-microsoft-windows/download-windows-8-1-retail-and-oem-iso/
Hi philipyip, the RWEverything software gets me the same Product Key that other software has like ProduKey in regard to my BIOS OEM Key, I checked the link but no mention about the Enterprise Edition, I keep looking and find out that my my Enterprise Product Key is this one: 32JNW-9KQ84-P47T8-D8GGY-CWCK7 (a KMS client one) How can I quit from being a KMS client to my original OEM system? Thanks.
Make a Windows 8.1 UEFI Bootable USB. Boot from it and begin the Install, if you get asked for a product key cancel the setup and shutdown your computer if not continue the setup.
If it asked for a product key make a Windows 8.1 Single Language UEFI Bootable USB. Boot from it and begin the Install, if you get asked for a product key cancel the setup and shutdown your computer.
Likely one of these two editions will accept your product key.
